The great hero of the First Age who, with the aid of Lúthien Tinúviel and Finrod Felagund, succeeded in gaining a Silmaril from the Iron Crown of Morgoth.

Beren was certainly extant between 463 (when he first came across Lúthien) and 469 (when he achieved the Quest of the Silmaril). His dates of birth and death are conjectures based on these and the dates of other associated events.
