Notes

1

Gorlim's name is not explained, and does not have an obvious derivation from an Elvish source (except perhaps for a connection to gor, meaning 'horror' or 'dread'). We might therefore take it that the name came from the little-known language of the Bëorians. Gorlim is commonly referred to as 'Gorlim the Unhappy', so we might conceivably take 'unhappy' as an interpretation of the name, though this is hardly definitive.
