Ar-Pharazôn

The last King of Númenor

Rulers of Númenor

Twenty-fifth and last King of Númenor. He assailed Mordor and brought Sauron back to Númenor as a hostage, but Sauron corrupted him, and persuaded him to sail on Valinor itself. As punishment for this act, the island of Númenor sank beneath the waves of the Great Sea.

Notes

1

The Elvish equivalent of this name, Calion, suggests that 'golden' is meant in the sense of 'shining' or 'brilliant'.
