Farewell Party

Bilbo’s last Birthday Party in the Shire

The famous Long-expected Party held in the Party Field (as it was afterwards known) beneath Bag End on 22 September III 3001. The celebrations marked Bilbo's 111th birthday, and also coincidentally Frodo's 33rd (his coming of age, in Hobbit terms). It was known as the 'Farewell' Party because it was then that Bilbo chose to vanish from the Shire, using his Magic Ring to make that happen in a quite literal way. After many wanderings in Middle-earth, he eventually found himself at Rivendell, where he was reunited with Frodo many years later.
