The small moon Mneme orbits on the outer fringes of the Jovian system, and can travel as far as 28 million kilometres from the giant planet. At this distance Jupiter appears little more than a small disc, fainter than a full moon as seen from Earth. The four bright points clustered around Jupiter are its four large Galilean satellites: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
