NotesA minor member of the Ananke group of Jovian satellites, thought to have originated in the break-up of an asteroid captured by Jupiter's gravity. Mneme is a tiny moon of irregular shape, averaging just two kilometres in diameter.

The small moon Mneme orbits on the outer fringes of the Jovian system, and can travel as far as 28 million kilometres from the giant planet. At this distance Jupiter appears little more than a small disc, fainter than a full moon as seen from Earth. The four bright points clustered around Jupiter are its four large Galilean satellites: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
