Sam Gamgee's rope-making grandfather

The son of Hob Gammidge, who was in turn the father of Hamfast 'Gaffer' Gamgee, and the grandfather of Samwise Gamgee, who found fame on the Quest of Mount Doom. Hobson, who was the first member of the family to adopt the name 'Gamgee', was the unnamed 'grand-dad' of Sam's who held a rope-walk in Tighfield in the Shire.
