Hildibrand Took

Eighth child of the Old Took

One of the many children of Gerontius, the Old Took, Hildibrand was the eighth of Gerontius' children. He carried on the Took tradition of using names with military connections: his given name Hildibrand means 'sword of war'. Hildibrand founded his own branch of the Took family through his son Sigismond, but his most famous descendant was not a Took at all, but a Bolger. This was Fredegar 'Fatty' Bolger, who was the son of Hildibrand's granddaughter Rosamunda.
