A faint blue star close to the southward course of the star-river Eridanus, where it runs between Fornax to the west and Caelum to the east. i Eridani lies some 360 light years from the Solar System. Though classified as a dwarf star, i Eridani is nonetheless considerably hotter and more luminous than the Sun. It approaches three times the Sun's diameter, and its absolute magnitude is -0.04 (that is, if it lay ten parsecs from Earth, it would shine approximately as brightly as Alpha Centauri or Vega).
