Kappa1Lupi is a hot bluemain sequencestar whose rapid rotation has resulted in a disc of matter extending out from its equator. It forms an optical pair with Kappa2Lupi, another bluestar that lies less than an arcminute from Kappa1 as seen from Earth (though in reality the two stars are about five light years distant from one another).
