Notesi Carinae is a young, hot star estimated to be approximately seven times more massive than the Sun, but some two thousand times as luminous. This star uses a lowercase 'i' for its designation, and is not to be confused with (uppercase) I Carinae in the south of the constellation, or ι (Iota) Carinae, a rather brighter star given the name Aspidiske.
