One of a group of small satellites of Jupiter that orbit the planet in a retrograde direction (that is, in the opposite direction to Jupiter's own rotation). Thought to have originated in the breakup of an asteroid captured by Jupiter'sgravity, these moons are collectively known as the Ananke Group.
