The elder son of Bëor



Baran was the ancestor of the all the more famous members of the House of Bëor, while his brother Belen faded into obscurity (and does not in fact appear outside volume 11 of The History of Middle-earth). Belen was the great-great-grandfather of Emeldir the Man-hearted, who became the wife of Baran's descendant Barahir.

The elder son of Bëor the Old, who took up the leadership of the House of Bëor after his father's departure to service in Nargothrond.
