V1027 Scorpii forms a close optical pairing with the eruptive variable V856 Scorpii, just 44 arcminutes to the south. In fact the two stars are some ten light years apart, with V1027 Scorpii being the more distant of the two. The stars lie against the dark background of the Lupus III cloud, illuminating a region of that cloud to create a small reflection nebula known as Bernes 149 Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
