NotesSome two and a half million years ago, in the vicinity of the Orion Nebula, an event occurred - probably a collision of binary star systems - that threw two stars out into space. Mu Columbae is one of those two stars, a 'runaway' travelling southward through Columba. The other is AE Aurigae, which is hurtling away in the opposite direction (northwards, as seen from Earth).
