A spiral galaxy possessing a relatively small central bar, NGC 3953 is part of the extensive Ursa Major Cluster of galaxies. Estimates of its distance vary considerably, with some analyses suggesting a rather greater distance than that shown above, up to as much as sixty-five million light years from the Milky Way.
