Optimum VisibilityApril (usually visible from northern latitudes)

The galaxies of this group are widely distributed, and so appear faint in this large-scale image of its central regions. M109 itself can seen close to the star Phecda in the north, southeastward from the star. North of centre, between Phecda and the image's central reticle, is the spiral NGC 3953, while southeastward from the central point is the distorted spiral of NGC 4088. Many other fainter galaxies in this region can be seen by zooming and scrolling this interactive image. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
