NGC 6152

An open or galactic star cluster that falls with just within the eastern borders of Norma, where that constellation runs against neighbouring Ara. NGC 6152 is a populous cluster containing about 1,100 stars, and lies about 3,400 light years from the Solar System.

As seen from Earth, the cluster appears against a dense part of the band of the Milky Way as it passes through Norma and Ara (representing a minor arm of the Galaxy known as the Norma Arm). This means that the cluster's stars can be difficult to distinguish from a background busy with the stars of the Milky Way.
