HR 3011 is among the brightest of the young blue stars in the open cluster NGC 2451A. NGC 2451 (or Collinder 161) was originally catalogued as a single cluster, but is now known to represent two separate groups of stars on the same line of sight from Earth. HR 3011 lies among the members of nearer cluster, now designated NGC 2451A. The bright orange star in this image is c Puppis, which is associated with the more distant cluster of the pair, known as NGC 2451B. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
