Subgiant

As its name suggests, a star categorised between the branch of giant stars and the main sequence or dwarf stars.

The marked star here is Shaula or Lambda Scorpii, one the of the two 'Cat's Eyes' in the tail of Scorpius the Scorpion. At magnitude +1.62, this the brightest unequivocal subgiant star in the sky (though the 'subgiant' classification is also sometimes applied to certain brighter stars, such as Regulus in Leo).
