NotesOne of the largest shield volcanoes on Mars, Elysium Mons rises out of the high plains of Elysium Planitia in Mars' northern hemisphere. Two smaller volcanoes rise out of the same landscape, with Hecates Tholus to the northeast, and Albor Tholus to the southeast.
