V586 Orionis is one of thousands of stars embedded within the gases of the Orion Nebula. It lies outside the southeastern edge of the main nebula, though the nebula's tenuous outer clouds are nonetheless visible here. The much brighterstar on the northern edge of this image is HR 1911, which lies at a similar distance to V586 Orionis, but is nearly five hundred times as luminous.
