An evolved orangegiantstar more than 140 light years from the Sun, Psi Ursae Majoris is in the later stages of its existence, having consumed the hydrogen in its core. It lies in the southern parts of Ursa Major, representing the point where the 'rear legs' (marked by the stars Tania Borealis and Tania Australis) join the body of the Great Bear.
