Centaurus A (NGC 5128) is the largest and most massive member of the galaxy group that bears its name. It lies at the heart of its own subgroup within the main group, the Centaurus A Subgroup, with the galaxies of the smaller M83 Subgroup arranged around M83, the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy, to the north of Centaurus A.
