The surname of Voronwë in Gondolin, Aranwion is a patronymic, meaning simply 'son of Aranwë'. Both Voronwë and his father Aranwë dwelt in Gondolin. They were attached to the House of Fingolfin, and dedicated to the service of the King of Gondolin, Fingolfin's son Turgon.
