Lamps used by the Noldor that did not use fire for light, but instead contained a fine network of crystals, each of which shone with a brilliant blue light of its own. Our knowledge of their origins is slim, but it seems that they were devised by Fëanor himself, and that their workings were not understood even by the other Noldor who used them.
