Rufus Burrows

The father of Milo Burrows

A member of the Burrows family of the Shire-hobbits, who formed a link between the larger and more famous Brandybuck and Baggins clans. Rufus himself married into the Brandybucks when he wedded Asphodel, the fifth of Master Gorbadoc's seven children. Their son was Milo Burrows, who is mentioned briefly in The Lord of the Rings for the unreliability of his letter-writing, and he in turn married into the Bagginses when he made Peony Baggins his bride.

Notes

1

We're not given any specific dates for Rufus Burrows. The dates shown here are those known for his wife Asphodel Brandybuck, so while unlikely to be exactly correct, they do give some indication of Rufus' approximate lifetime. We do know that Rufus was present at Bilbo Baggins' Farewell Party in III 3001, at which date he would have been about ninety years old.
