Briffo Boffin

A Shire-hobbit who settled in Bree

The third child and youngest son of Buffo Boffin and Ivy Goodenough. Briffo did something extremely unusual for a Shire-hobbit: he set out from his homeland and travelled to Bree, where he eventually settled. (It's notable that Briffo's brother Basso was also an adventurer, so perhaps a venturesome streak ran in this branch of the family, or - just possibly - both brothers were influenced to explore by Gandalf). It seems that Briffo did not marry in his new home of Bree, for no wife, children or descendants are recorded for him.
