Yearbook of Tuckborough

The records of the Tooks

The ancient record book of the Tooks, also called Yellowskin, that held details of births, deaths and marriages dating back to about the year III 2100 (only some five hundred years after the foundation of the Shire). Its earliest contents were made in the days before the Tooks had become hereditary Thains of the Shire, and Aranarth ruled as the first Chieftain of the Dúnedain.

As well as holding records of the lives of members of the Took family, the Yearbook also made mention of historical events relating to the Shire as a whole, as well as more prosaic entries such as sales of land, and genealogies going back to ancient times. It was thus the most important historical resource in the Shire, and much of this content was used within the pages of the Red Book of Westmarch.
