Dimrill Gate

The East-gate of Moria

Map of the Dimrill Gate

A name for the eastern Gate of Moria, that led from beneath the Misty Mountains into the valley of Nanduhirion, the Dimrill Dale. The Battle of Nanduhirion was fought in the valley beneath the Dimrill Gate, but the victorious Dwarves were warned of the unknown terror that still dwelt in Moria, and did not pass the Gate. Later, though, several adventurers did so, including Gandalf and Aragorn, and an ill-fated party of settlers led by Balin.
