White supergiant in Sagittarius
Show on Sky Map
The brilliant but distant supergiant V4387 Sagittarii lies on the edge of the Sagittarius Star Cloud, M24. The supergiant star is nearly seven thousamd light years from the Sun, but the 'cloud' - actually a view through the obscuring dust of the Milky Way - reveals a host of stars more distant still.
