V1814 Orionis lies off the southeastern fringes of the Orion Nebula, whose clouds can be seen in the background of this image. The bright star in the northwestern (upper right) corner is HR 1911, only a sixth-magnitude star, but nonetheless some seventy-five times brighter than V1814 Orionis as seen from Earth.
