Argelander's Star has one of the greatest rates of proper motion known, as demonstrated here by the blue and orange exposures that track its movement across the sky. High proper motion like this is typically a parallax effect seen for stars very close to the Sun, but at a distance of some thirty light years, in the case of Argelander's Star this effect represents real rapid movement through space. The speeding motion of the star has led to its occasional names of the 'Flying' or 'Runaway' Star. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas

* Argelander's Star has a peculiar metal-poor spectrum, and different sources characterise it in different ways. It is most commonly classified as an orange dwarf (as above), but it is also sometimes listed as a yellow dwarf, or as an orange subdwarf.
