Sky Map: 09h00 to 15h00

This part of the sky contains the two largest of all the constellations. Across its entire southern part stretches Hydra, the sky's largest constellation, and north from Hydra lies the more prominent Virgo, only marginally less extensive in area. In the northward parts of Virgo, spreading across into Coma Berenices, is the vast field of galaxies known as the Virgo Cluster.

Perhaps the most immediately recognisable constellation here is Leo, a grouping of stars that represents the form of a seated Lion. An approximate line through the stars Regulus and Denebola in Leo leads eastwards across this region to Arcturus in Boötes, the third brightest individual star in the entire sky.
