Víressë

The fourth month of the Gondorian year

Months of the year

The fourth month of the year, according to the calendars of the Dúnedain and those derived from them, following the spring feast-day of Tuilérë. On a modern calendar, Víressë ran from 23 March to 21 April.

The name Víressë derived originally from the Quenya language, and would be most commonly used by Westron-speakers. The Sindarin equivalent, Gwirith, was the form preferred by the Dúnedain themselves. In turn, Víressë ultimately gave rise to Astron, the fourth month of the Shire Calendar.
