Glorfindel

A heroic Elf-lord of Rivendell

A noble Elf of Rivendell, who fought at the Battle of Fornost and, a thousand years later, helped Frodo Baggins and his companions to reach the House of Elrond and evade the pursuit of the Black Riders.

The question of Glorfindel's identity remains an open one. There are arguments to be made that Glorfindel of Rivendell was the same Glorfindel that was slain in the Fall of Gondolin, returned to Middle-earth from the Halls of Waiting.
