Evendim

The time of evening twilight, when the first stars began to shine in the darkening sky. Evendim was a Common Speech translation of Elvish undómë or aduial. The term corresponding to evendim for the twilight of dawn was morrowdim or 'morning twilight'.

To the north of the Shire lay a region of hills around a broad lake, where the Northern Dúnedain had long ago built their capital of Annúminas. In Elvish, this region was named using the word uial for 'twilight' (the hills being Emyn Uial, and the lake Nenuial). In translation, this became the land of Evendim, so the high hills northward of the Shire were the Hills of Evendim, and the wide lake beyond was known as Lake Evendim.
