A term for those of the Edain who dwelt in Hithlum under the lordship of the House of Hador. These were the descendants of Marach and his followers, the third of the Three Houses to enter Beleriand. Marach's descendant Hador Lórindol was granted the northern land of Hithlum as a fief by Fingolfin, and it was ruled in turn by his descendants Galdor and Húrin until the time of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. The Edain of the North fought in that climactic battle, and its loss caused them also to lose their land of Hithlum, which was taken by Easterlings in the service of Morgoth.
