River Adorn

Rohan’s western border

Map of the river Adorn

A river that rose in the western heights of the White Mountains, and flowed roughly northwestward to meet the Isen on the borders of Enedwaith. It was important as defining the western border of the country of Rohan.

Notes

1

The meaning of the name Adorn is discussed in the index to Unfinished Tales, where it is suggested that this was an ancient name adapted to the form of the Sindarin language. If the name ever had a meaning, it seems to have been long forgotten.
