p Orionis
27 Orionis
An orange star, somewhat more massive than the Sun, that falls a little to the west of Orion's Belt. In fact, it is much closer to Earth than even the nearest of Orion's belt-stars. The nearest of those three is Alnitak, more than 800 light years away. By comparison, p Orionis is just 172 light years from the Solar System, less than a quarter of the distance.
