A faint white star in northern Auriga, not far to the northeast of brilliant Capella. Omicron Aurigae is a massive and luminous star, nearly 600 light years from the Solar System. Although it is intrinsically more luminous than Sirius, its great distance means that it falls on the brink of naked eye visibility.
