A white star that forms part of the band of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown. Gamma Coronae Borealis is a variable star of the Delta Scuti type: it shows very small changes in magnitude over time, due to pulsations within the star itself.

This image is scaled to show Gamma Coronae Borealis as part of the curving chain of stars that make up the Northern Crown. To the west, the distinctly brighter star is Alphecca or Alpha Coronae Borealis, while the fainter star to the east is Delta Coronae Borealis. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
