The brightest of the stars of Pegasus, Enif represents the nose of the Winged Horse, and indeed its name comes from the Arabic for 'nose'. This vast star is far larger than the Sun, and it occasionally shows sudden brief periods of intense brightness, probably due to extreme flare activity.
