Note	NGC 2646 belongs to the class of barred lenticular galaxies: galaxies without a distinct spiral structure, but nonetheless showing the central bar typical of barred spirals. This galaxy is oriented so that it appears almost face-on to an observer on Earth.

A distant galaxy of the lenticular type within Camelopardalis, and near that constellation's border with Ursa Major.
