Winged Shadows

The Nazgûl on their Winged Creatures

A name for the Nazgûl after they took to the skies on horrific winged mounts. This name refers especially to the profound dread and fear they inspired in those below them as they flew overhead.

Notes

1

The date of 23 February III 3019 was that of the first definite sighting of a Winged Shadow. The Nazgûl had presumably had access to their winged mounts for some time before this, but had remained east of the Great River, concealing themselves from Sauron's enemies.
