Rulers of Númenor

The twelfth King of Númenor, a great shipbuilder and adventurer, who plundered Middle-earth of its treasures and carried them back to Númenor.

The name Ciryatan is not explicitly explained, but it almost certainly comes from cirya, 'ship' and atan, 'Man', especially one of the High Men of Númenor. Given his youth as a mariner, and the great fleet his built as King, this name fits its holder well.
