One of the many descendants of the Old Took, Reginard was old Gerontius' great-great-grandson (though his line of descent was far from that leading to the Thainship). He was the elder brother of Everard Took, and like Everard, he was present at Bilbo's Farewell Party, though unlike his brother he was not mentioned directly in the history of that event. Reginard was a near contemporary of Frodo Baggins, born just one year after Bilbo's adopted heir.

Notes

1

Earlier editions of The Lord of the Rings mistakenly show three unnamed sisters to Reginard and Everard. This was corrected to two unnamed sisters in editions published after 2004.
