Ormenel

The Day of the Heavens

Days of the week

Dedicated to Menel, the Heavens, Ormenel was the fifth of the six days that made up the week of the Elves. Ormenel is the Sindarin form of the name: in Quenya it was known as Menelya. In Middle-earth, the Shire-hobbits adopted the form of this name translated into the Common Tongue to ultimately become Hevensday, a day approximately corresponding with modern Wednesday.
