Orchaldor

A nobleman of Númenor

Among the descendants of House of Hador in Númenor was one Hatholdir, a close friend of Tar-Meneldur the fifth King. Hatholdir's son was Orchaldor, who married Meneldur's elder daughter Ailinel, making Orchaldor the brother-in-law of Meneldur's Heir Aldarion. Orchaldor and Ailinel had a son, Soronto, who seems to have played some part in the history of Aldarion's Kingship, though the details of his actions are nowhere recorded.

Notes

1

We have no dates for Orchaldor, but we know that his wife Ailinel was born in the year II 712, so Orchaldor was presumably born at a similar time. During this period of Númenor's history, members of the royal house could expect to live for some four centuries, though as a descendant of a lesser line, while still extraordinarily long-lived, Orchaldor probably did not survive to such a great age.
