OraearonThe Sea-day of the NúmenóreansThe Men of Númenor took the six-day week of the Elves and adapted to their own uses. In need of a seven-day arrangement, they inserted a new day, known as Eärenya and dedicated to the Sea, between Menelya and Valanya. Oraearon is the Sindarin translation of this Quenya name, but it seems doubtful that this translated form would have been widely used. Both in Númenor itself, and in the calendars of Middle-earth that derived from it, the Quenya form Eärenya would normally have been preferred.
