The North

The lands north of Beleriand

When the people of Beleriand spoke of 'the North', they were most often referring to the terrors of Morgoth's kingdom among the Iron Mountains. At times, though, the name was used to describe the allied lands that lay between Beleriand and Angband. In particular, the name was used for Dor-lómin, the grey land beyond the Mountains of Shadow that was held by the Men of the House of Hador.
